Beginning with Daphne’s attempts to woo the Duke of Hastings, who famously refuses to marry, each of the eight novels in the regency series follows the romantic misadventures of the noisy and loving Bridgerton children in the high society of early 19th-century London.
In 2020, Shonda Rhimes adapted the first of the books, published 20 years ago, into a Netflix original series starring Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington, and Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown, a gossip columnist known for spreading scandal. The series, which plays with the conventions of costume dramas, has won multiple awards and has been celebrated for its colour-conscious casting.
As the second season premieres, Quinn will be joining Alison Flood to talk about both the Netflix series and her novels. She will also be taking some of your questions.
Running time: 60 minutes
Julia Quinn will be joining over 100 romance authors at this exciting event. Please note that tickets are required and should be purchased ahead of time.
