The Duke and I was a finalist in the 2001 RITA Awards in the Short Historical category. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing. The eventual winner was The Mistress by Susan Wiggs.


Julia Quinn was a double finalist in the Best Romantic Novella Category of the 2005 RITA Awards. “The First Kiss” was up against “A Tale of Two Sisters” (from Where’s My Hero?). Alas, neither won. The eventual winner was “Her Enemy” in Night’s Edge by Maggie Shayne. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing.

“36 Valentines” was a finalist in the 2004 RITA Awards for Best Romantic Novella. (As was “Two Hearts,” Karen Hawkins’s contribution to the anthology.) The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing. The eventual winner was “Prisoner in the Tower” in The Wedding Chase by Gayle Wilson.


The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy was a finalist in the 2016 RITA Awards in the Short Historical category. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing. The eventual winner was It Started With a Scandal by Julie Anne Long.


What Happens in London was named Best Long Historical Romance of the year in the 2009 RITA Awards. This was JQ’s third win, and with it she became the twelfth author to be inducted into Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame.


Mr. Cavendish, I Presume was a finalist in the 2003 RITA Awards in the Regency Romance category. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing. The eventual winner was My Lord and Spymaster by Joanna Bourne.


The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever was named Best Regency Romance of the year in the 2007 RITA Awards. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing. JQ achieved a rare back-to-back win with this honor; she won the year before for On the Way to the Wedding.


On the Way to the Wedding was named Best Long Historical Romance of the year in the 2007 RITA Awards. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing.


Romancing Mr. Bridgerton was a finalist in the 2003 RITA Awards in the Long Historical category. The RITAs are awarded by Romance Writers of America and are the highest honor in romance writing. The eventual winner was Stealing Heaven by Madeline Hunter.
